POST-ironic PARADE theorY
I'm still unsure of the image we want to portray.
We have to think about what people will think of us...that doesn't have to dictate how we approach things, but it will substantially steer it. Are we still going to be men only? Who can be a Summer Snowman? Should we think about making a web-page someday? Should we still give out information in the flier about preventing hypothermia? Is our message to 'keep warm'(if so that could have a very humane subliminal appeal to dorks like me)? Does our appearance satirize excess?...backwards logic? Would it be a good idea to be sponsered by "Tommy Shovelface"(feel the spirit of Tommy...we put the shovel back into the face) and "Cheap Plastic Sled"(slide on a cheap plastic sled)? Does that sound too much like subliminal sex and violence? How should we move? What should we say? What is driving our choreography? Are we promoting a kind of patriotism? Freedom? Christmas spirit? Suffering? Non-sense? Sense out of non-sense? I don't know...whatever we decide to do, we're not all going to be in agreement on every aspect of philosophy...but if we want to be all together and enthusiastic, we should at least be steadfast on the surface. So let's talk about this and where we want to go with it before we rally the troops...hellz yah. An army...the S.S.
I just looked up S.S. in my little dictionary to see if it would tell me if it was the Nazi police or the U.S. secret service or social security; I was unsure about the former-est. Anyhow, it wasn't in there; this is as close as I got: "Squint">>>skwint, a. Looking obliquely or different ways. -n. An oblique look; an affection in which the optic axes do not coincide. -vi. To look obliquely. (no S.S. listed) "Stable">>>sta'bl, a. Firm; firmly established; steadfast. -n. A house for horses, etc. -vt. (stabling, stabled). To put or keep in a stable. -vi. To dwell in a stable. *nice punctuation Jeff...thank you; I try*
I apologize for all the gaps in my line of points...think of a smooth wave that crests and breaks and forms again...ooh, how deep
Here's a quote to ponder: "Because the soul is progressive, it never quite repeats itself, but in every act attempts the production of a new and fairer whole."-first line from Emerson essay entitled 'Art'...(not the quote I was looking for, but most Emerson is good, and the one I was looking for was about actions, and this quote is just dandy in that respect)...
